  • 1640-1641; December 1640, eruption (Neumann van Padang), then continued on 3-4 January 1641 (Wichmann, 1893).
  • 1641; Small phreatic eruption
  • 1677; Phreatic eruption
  • 1711; December 10-16, eruption with hot and lava clouds erupting from the central crater, followed by rain lava. The area between Tabuhan and Tahuna was destroyed. Human victim. 3,000 people (Valentijn, 1711), 2,030 people in Kendhar (including king Syamsialam), 70 people in Koloza and 408 people in Tahuna.
  • 1812; August 6-8, a large eruption (phreatomagmatics) and a similar effect to that which occurred in 1711. Coconut trees were destroyed throughout the coast. 2,806 inhabitants of Tabuhan, Khendar and Kolengan became victims ((Doren, 1812; Kusumadinata, 179).
  • 1856; March 2-7, large eruption (phreatomagmatics) which results in many human deaths. Eruption with awanpanas, eruption lava and rain lava. Trijang village, Pembalarian hut, Labakassin, Statue and Lost were completely destroyed. Victims were 2,806 people (Riedel & Doren, 1856; Kusumadinata, 1979).
  • 1875; In August there was a phreatic eruption from the central crater. There are no further reports.
  • 1885; August 18, there was a phreatic eruption.
  • 1892; June 7, there is a large eruption (phreatomagmatics). Eruptions accompanied by hot clouds, lava eruptions and rain lava. Almost all the northern coastal villages were destroyed. The most severe village is located between Sawang and Tabuka. The total number of victims was 1,532, including Mala, Akembuala, Anggis, Mitung, Kolengan, Metih, Khendar and Trijang. In addition to the hot clouds, lava also caused many casualties. Many victims fell in the Sawang and Kalasugi churches.

  • 1931; On April 7 there was a lava dome beneath the surface of the crater lake. The formation continues, until the month of December reached 80 m high.
  • 1952; According to local residents there was an increase in activities in the middle of the year. The activity is not ended by an eruption.
  • 1966; According Matahelumual (1966) on August 12, at 08:20 suddenly a thick smoke appeared rising from the crater of mt. Awu, then expanded far into the air like a cloud of explosions of an atomic bomb.
  • 1989; May – August, there was a change in the color of the water from the crater lake from light green to black.
  • 1992; In May, changes in the volume of crater lake water were reduced by 95% from the amount of 3.5 million m3 (175,000 m3). October 12, phreatic eruption, eruption hole with a diameter of 15 m (based on seismograph records was initiated on April 16, 1992).
  • 2004; June 8-10, 2004, there was a magmatic eruption, a smoke column as high as 1000 – 3000 meters above the peak. The thickness of ash in Kec. North tabs are 0.5 – 1 mm thick. The number of people displaced is about 18,648 people. There are no fatalities…
