Liang Balik is defined as a natuurmonument based on Zelbestuur Besluit (ZB) from the Kingdom of Kualuh No .: 221 dated January 11, 1936 with a total area of 0.31 Ha. Currently Natuurmonument Liang Balik is better known as Nature Reserve Liang Balik which is managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Center of North Sumatra.
The location of the Reserve Reserves according to ZB is on the right side of Aek Rimau and Sungai Kualuh, Keradjaan Kualuh, Onderafdeeling Labuhan Batu, Afdeeling Asahan, Gouvernement Ooskust van Sumatra which is about 1500 meters away from Trianggulasi Point T.2728 / 479
The main potential of Background Nature Reserve is a high cliff plane with a 90 – 100o inclination in the direction of the cliff face, which is inscribed on Ancient Batak drawings and writings.
The Liang Balik Nature Reserve is very difficult to reach because it has to go along the river and valley and one steep hill, so that the existence of this area received less attention. Besides, the area is small and its function as a protection against the historical relics of Ancient Batak writing.
The biotic potentials in the vicinity of Liang Balik Nature Reserve are still relatively good and can be proposed and maintained as an expansion of nature reserve area.
Sengon (Albizia procera), Beringin (Ficus sp). In the area of Aek Nature Reserve Liang Beat the vegetation is very dense, especially shrubs and lower plants, tall trees include Ficus sp, rattan and liana creeping closely close the stone walls of the site.
In addition, other types of trees are Beringin (Ficus bengamin), Meranti Batu (Shorea platyclados), Mayang (Payena acuminita), Haundolok (Eugenia sp), Blood-blood (Horsfieldia sp) Damoli Flower (Sloetia elongata), Medang (Litsea sp), Durian Forest (Durio sp), Kempas (Coompais sp), and several other types of herbaceous plants.
