Note Berbak National Park is a natural conservation area for the conservation of the largest swamp forests in Southeast Asia that have not been touched by human exploitation. Its uniqueness is an interesting mix between peat swamp forest and freshwater swamp forest that stretches on the east coast of Sumatra.

Topology of the Park area is flat to slightly sloping.

The geological formations of Berbak National Park include alluvial deposit formations. The soil type of organosol (peat) that is inundated throughout the year, is acidic, making it a major obstacle to land use for agricultural activities.

Identification The types of plants that exist in the national park are Meranti (Shorea sp), and various kinds of palms. Berbak National Park has the most famous species of palm ornamental plants in Indonesia.

Types of palm ornamental plants that are rare include the type of Umbrella Leaves (Johanesteijmannia altifrons) and the newly discovered species Lepidonia kingii (Lorantaceae) are flowering large with red / purple.
